Ending Sexual Violence in Conflict (ESVC) Summit in London

We will be reporting  here and on Twitter from the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict in London.  Today we will be checking out some of the “Fringe” events open to the general public. The summit, hosted by the UK government, officially opens on the 11th with an “expert day” of panels, followed by a “ministerial day” on the 12th and a wrap up on the 13th.

A number of criticisms have already been raised about the UK’s handling of asylum cases, and the summit venue that has recently hosted the world’s largest arms fair.

Insiders have raised concerns about the international sexual violence investigation protocol that will be launched by the UK government during the summit and noted the exclusion of social scientists in general and some key researchers and long time activists and practitioners from the official summit agenda.
